The 2012 opera season at the Sydney Opera House promises to exceed all expectations as new stars join favorites from previous seasons to transport audiences to another world. Whether you are an opera aficionado or just looking to add a little something special to your Sydney vacation, a performance at the Sydney Opera House isn't just any old night at the opera!

Performances are held in the Opera Theatre. With seating for 1547 people, its the second largest venue at Sydney Opera House. As the operas are performed in their original language (mostly Italian), subtitles in English are projected onto a screen above the stage.

Bars inside Sydney Opera House open one hour prior to performance time, so why not arrive early to enjoy a pre-theatre drink (additional cost) and enjoy the unbeatable views of Sydney Harbour.

Wheelchair Access: A number of spaces are available for wheelchairs in each theatre at the Sydney Opera House. Wheelchairs are available from the Stage Door for use by patrons free of charge. Wheelchair access is by ramp from the southern entrance of the Concourse. Undercover wheelchair access is available from Stage Door and the Sydney Opera House Car Park. It is essential that you specify any needs when proceeding with your booking.

Così Fan Tutte - Mozart
Welcome to the School for Lovers.  There are many lessons to be learned.  Can women be trusted? Can men?  And would you rather win a bet, or win someone’s heart?  These are questions that two men take on when they try to seduce each other’s partner.  But will they like what they learn?

Aida - Verdi
Aida is the stuff of operatic legend.  Gold-clad warriors and lithe dancers traverse the stage, pyramids emblazoned with mysterious hieroglyphs loom from the shadows, while Verdi’s moving arias tell the epic story of two people at war.

South Pacific - Rodgers and Hammerstein   
Some Enchanted Evening
Experience the buzz of a Broadway show when South Pacific comes to the Sydney Opera House.  Set in wartime on an American base in the Pacific, South Pacific is not just a feel-good musical.  It is a ground breaking piece of drama that confronts issues of sexism, racism and intolerance head-on.  Don’t miss all those great songs-‘Some Enchanted Evening’, ‘Bali Ha’i’-performed by an outstanding cast.

Lucia di Lammermoor
