How to Spend Spring Break in Florida

Florida is synonymous with spring break and sunshine. But there’s more to do than just party on the beach. Spring break can see you paddling a kayak through a national park, taking an airboat tour, snorkeling, and more. Here are some fun spring break options across the Sunshine State.

Florida’s liveliest city is anything you want it to be. Go people-watching and take in the nightlife of South Beach, or head to Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park on Key Biscayne for one of the state’s prettiest beaches. Fishing excursions, airboat tours, Segway adventures, and the opportunity to simply lounge on one of the city’s 15 beaches—it’s all waiting in Miami.

Spring break in Orlando is prime for families with kids. The theme park capital of the world can keep you busy for days, if not longer, with its Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld attractions. And when you need a break from the parks, head east to Kennedy Space Center or book an airboat adventure in the wetlands south of Orlando.

Key West
The last island in the Florida Keys chain is famous for its tropical atmosphere. And while Key West has some good beaches, other notable spring break activities include snorkeling tours to surrounding reefs and trolley tours around Old Town. If staying in Fort Lauderdale, book a day trip tour for a day in Key West.

Everglades National Park
Florida is at its wildest in Everglades National Park, home to alligators, snakes, deer, and incredible bird life. Guided half-day excursions from Miami are a good way to see the park—choose to add a narrated airboat ride, an alligator show, or a boat tour around Biscayne Bay and Miami’s glitzy residential islands.
