Goa may have some of the most beautiful beaches in India, but the state has so much more to offer than lazing away in the sun. For those looking for a little adventure, check out some of the myriad of outdoor activities in the coastal area.
The jungles surrounding Goa are an excellent playground for outdoor adventure. Take a Jeep safari to Dudhsagar Falls—one of the highest in India—for a swim at its base, ride a zipline through the canopy, or trek through the forests of Mollem National Park.
Sailing & Cruising
Goa’s oceanside position is a big part of its appeal, and it would be a shame to leave without getting out on the water. Experiences are varied—everything from learning the basics of sailing while zipping along the coast to sitting back and taking in the sights on a Mandovi River cruise.
Those who prefer to propel their own watercraft can opt for a kayaking tour. Paddle through a green mangrove forest, get off the beaten path in the Sal Backwaters, float along the serene Nerul River, or kayak by moonlight along Goa’s Zuari River.
Travelers with an appreciation for wildlife can spot some of Goa’s animal residents both on land and in the water. Hop aboard a boat for the chance to glimpse Indo-Pacific humpbacked dolphins in the Arabian Sea, or travel along the Cumbarjua Canal to see crocodiles. The mangrove forests of the region are home to India’s famous Kingfisher.
