This scenic stretch of the British Columbia coastline makes
for one of the country’s most popular adventures, and travelers can enjoy the spectacular
views from the luxury of the famous Rocky Mountaineer train.
The three-and-a-half-hour journey between Vancouver and
Whistler winds through the Cheakamus Canyon, across a picturesque trestle
bridge and even past an extinct volcano. Travelers can snap photos on the
outdoor vestibule or watch the natural beauty pass by through the train’s
sky-high picture windows.
And no trip aboard the Vancouver-Whistler line is complete
without a visit to the popular Whistler Village. Quaint shops, tasty
restaurants and breathtaking views of Blackcomb Mountain make this four-seasons
town a destination. Travelers can take a gondola ride to the top of Blackcomb
Mountain, then hop aboard the Peak 2 Peak Gondola—the world’s longest
unsupported gondola—before boarding the Rocky Mountaineer train or bunkering
down at one of the village’s numerous hotels or favorite bed-and-breakfasts.
