Our guide David was awesome. He was genuinely very funny. Not in a scripted kind of way, but in a very natural way. He was entertaining and made the trip fly by quickly. The details he gave us about locations and information about Icelandic culture and society were much more nuanced than any of my other tours. You could tell that he really cares about doing the best job he can and that he really thinks about what would be the best experience for the guests. A good example is how he basically did our tour in a backwards order than most of the other companies in order to avoid huge crowds. Thanks to this we had a few stops at locations where it was literally just our small bus of 11 or so guests. This made visiting those locations a much more personal experience. He even gave us tons of advice on other places to go and see. I was in Reykjavik by myself and I asked him if he had a good recommendation for a place to get some lamb for dinner since it was my last night there. He literally took about ten minutes of his own time just to check up on places he knew in order to find me the best place. That tour was the perfect way to end my trip to Reykjavik and the place he suggested for dinner was the icing on the cake. This man deserves a raise. Thanks!Lyndon
Wonderful tour! Great intro to Iceland and it’s natural beauty. It was our first day and so glad we chose this tour to get a familiarity to the landscape. Stefan, our guide was more than accommodating and pleasant. Extremely knowledgeable of the area and history. Made everyone feel welcomed. There was adequate time at each stop. We never felt rushed; timing was perfect. A great way to end the tour was the soak in the Secret Lagoon- made for a relaxing drive back to the city.
Great day on the Small-Group Golden Circle Tour and Secret Lagoon. Stefan the guide was incredibly knowledgeable and was wonderful to listen to. The tour is a must see and if you are lucky you will get Stefan as your guide. Gullfoss Falls incredible. Made my 50th Birthday super special with this tour. Thanks again Stefan....
I went on this tour with my husband and we had an OK experience. As promised, the group I traveled with during the day was a small group only 12 people and the guide. However, my group had a party of 7 with 2 small children. While the children were very well behaved and the family was very nice, it would have been nice if the tour group would have paired those travelers with another family and organized my tour with a group of other groups of 2-3 adult travelers. I believe other GTI tours left throughout the day, so I thinkthis could have been arranged fairly easily. Further, the tour guide catered completely to the needs of the family letting them board the bus first, so that they got the best seats and we could barely hear her throughout the ride also we had to cram into the back 4 seats on the bus with 2 strangers, when we would have preferred to sit in a row of 2 this set up would have made more sense since the family could have shared the respective rows for 3 and 4 passengers. Also, the family was Swedish and the tour guide happen to speak Swedish. As such, she did a fair amount of presenting in Swedish in addition to English. It seemed like a lot of the generic presentation was also translated to English, but it felt like there may have been some tidbits that were omitted for the people on the tour that only spoke English. I would recommend this trip because of the ease it provided it getting us to amazing Icelandic sites, but would say you could go with a cheaper or larger group tour and get the same experience without risking being just an add-on to some other family's private group tour.
